  • Dear SWASAP Members,

The Southwest Association of Student Assistance Programs (SWASAP) invites submissions for high-quality concurrent sessions for the 54th Annual SWASAP Conference. This year's conference will be held from November 2-5, 2025, in Houston, TX.

The priority deadline for proposal submission is September 20, 2025, and notifications of accepted proposals will be made on October 11, 2025.

Our conference theme is "Together We Rise: TRIO Homecoming." We encourage our concurrent session presenters to incorporate this theme in their presentations, reflecting on the spirit of unity and progress within the TRIO community.

Concurrent sessions should be 50 minutes long, with an additional 10 minutes allocated for questions. We will provide laptops and projectors if needed, but we prefer that you bring your presentation on a USB drive.

While our session themes are flexible, ideally, they will encompass presentations that blur traditional boundaries between functional areas and across 2-year, 4-year, and multiple TRIO programs. Although you can designate a broad target audience when you submit your proposal, we'd like to ask you to consider how your insights might be applied to a more experienced group of TRIO professionals. Additionally, we are particularly interested in sessions that aid and help participants of Veterans Upward Bound.

Suggested concurrent session themes include (but are not limited to):

  • ·      AI-Driven Personalized Learning System
  • ·      AI for Continuous Professional Development
  • ·      Incorporating best practices for both students and professionals
  • ·      Cross-cultural communication
  • ·      Conflict resolution
  • ·      TRIO trends and issues
  • ·      Partnerships and collaboration: Communicating the value of your program to your immediate community & in the region
  • ·      Technology and better uses of applications for programs
  • ·      Special challenges and opportunities
  • ·      Helping students through current events
  • ·      Self-advocacy/self-care: Insisting on healthy working conditions
  • ·      Mental health & wellness for students and TRIO employees
  • ·      Talent Development
  • ·      Roundtable discussions regarding TRIO program-specific issues

We look forward to your innovative and impactful proposals that will contribute to our conference's success and our TRIO community's growth.
