SWASAP TRIO Training

November 4-6

Baton Rouge, LA

A Note About Registration Rates:

The registration rate displayed is based on your current membership level. If your membership expires or changes before the Annual Conference, your conference rate will change as well and you will be expected to pay the rate that coincides with your new level of membership.

For example, if you are an active member at the time of registration and your membership expires before the conference, you will be prompted to pay the Non-Member registration rate, unless you renew your membership. Similarly, if you are Student Member at the time of your registration and your membership changes to Professional Affiliate, you will be required to pay the member rate instead of the student rate.

In partnership with the LSU Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) SWASAP is providing a free Safe Space training at the 2017 annual conference. The Safe Space Campaign was launched in Fall 2001 at LSU and has continued to grow with the support of OMA and the LGBTQ community of LSU.

Registration is free for conference attendees, but registrants agree to attend all three sessions. Those who register and complete all three sessions will receive Safe Space certification and a complimentary SWASAP TRIO Safe Space sticker.

    Safe Space Mission

The goal of the Safe Space Campaign is to identify and educate individuals who will affirm and support all people regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression. People displaying the Safe Space symbol are committed to combating hatred and discrimination through assistance and support.

Objectives of the Safe Space Training

    • To advocate, education, and build community on LGBTQ issues
    • To identify individuals who are empathetic and informed about queer issues, and help them on their path toward allyship
    • To create visible support for the LGBTQ community on campus
    • For non-allies: demonstrate best practices for working with LGBTQ individuals on a professional level
